Has Ethan learned to run in RE8?

I'm still playing through RE7 (very early on, so please no spoilers!) and I won't get to 8 for a bit.

BUT... Can Ethan run now or is he still doing the retirement home shuffle?

Quick edit: I know you can "sprint" in RE7, I just mean has the speed been increased in any way.
