Would you read canon-compliant fanfic (ie non-AU) that retells the story you've already played? Or do you prefer to see characters in new situations?

I'm currently writing a longfic and reached a point where I'm asking myself what even is the point of writing it (besides writing practice); would people read it? I do this but I also look for ways to tell the same story in a new way. For example: I didn't rewrite the entirety of Sera's recruitment. I thought why not do it this way: . Is this okay? I'm wondering if this attempt even works or if I'm just writing for an audience of ONE. >_< I have no one irl to show this to and 100k words in, I'm starting to think maybe I should just post scenes like these as one-fics.
