I hated Smashing Pumpkins until recently and I'm sorry
TLDR: I hated them now I love them and can't get enough.
Hearing Smashing Pumpkins on the radio growing up always made me question how such a "distinctive" voice could be famous. Whenever one of their songs came on, I quickly changed the station.
Two weeks ago I was showering with a 90's rock Spotify station on and I heard the song Today. The song was familiar, but I had never listened to it. I couldn't change the song immediately and I was stuck listening for a few seconds. Those few seconds changed my life, I haven't felt a song speak to me like that in a long time.
I don't know what changed and it's bothering me. I'm obsessed with this band now, I'm listening to all of their songs and doing a lot of research on the band members. I listen to other artists, but coming back to Smashing Pumpkins is like an intense release, almost like finding a groove after struggling to find the slot for a long time. The more I dig, the more I like.
Watching their acoustic live performances on YouTube is my jam right now. Jimmy Chamberlin on drums, what a precision player. He's unreal. Billy Corgan is very intentional with everything, I love how sharp he is. I still don't know a lot about him but he seems very intelligent, what a guy.
Anyways, thanks for reading this far. I didn't know who I could share my excitement with.
