Why Goon Breaks are PIVOTAL in the final release of Silksong
Metroid Dread: 10 Goon Breaks
Super Metroid: 25 Goon Breaks
Metroid Prime: 14 Goon Breaks
Metroid Prime 2: 13 Goon Breaks
Castlevania: 85 Goon Breaks
Ori and the Blind Forest: 3 Goon Breaks
This is just a short list of Metroidvania games that have goon breaks. Some would say that it isn't a Metroidvania without one.
Metroidvania games thrive on the gooning sessions, and gooning breaks often are used to reset the player's mind to continue exploring. A much needed rest before a stressful boss fight.
Not to mention, the music that often accompanies these gooning rooms are a different vibe than the rest of the game. Slow, drawn out notes add to the feeling like the next load will be blown sky high.
I will say, gooning areas (although sometimes a drag for some), often end up being my favorite areas in each game I play. They are at least the most memorable in my eyes.
I doubt Silksong has a true gooning level, given that the game has "ESRB 10+" rating, this indicates that Silksong doesn't seem to offer the traditional Gooning break experience. I think they want you to just shut the game off and jerk off in your private time.
I find this really upsetting, and hope we get at least 1 main hub where gooning sessions can be executed.
But, I'd like to know what you guys think. Do you enjoy gooning sessions / gooning breaks? Or do you dislike the disrupt of flow that accompany them? Thoughts?
