How do I change main menu display outfit?

I thought the star next to the set determined what outfit shows on the main menu, but it hasn't changed even when I exit the game and come back When I hit the display button in the bottom left corner, it just tries to make me take another banner/icon pic Is there a way where I can have the display be this outfit and keep the other outfit saved?
