[spoiler] Best End Game Farming Spot I’ve Found
I don’t know if this is already a popular farming spot or not, but I figured I’d share anyways for people who don’t know.
After beating the Divine Dragon and Ashina is on fire, you can go to the Outskirts Wall-Stairway idol and get about 10,000 exp, roughly 4,500 sen, and plenty of crafting materials per run (using wealth/possession balloons, Golden Vortex, and the Ceremonial Tanto). If you don’t need any extra sen or items, you can just run through stealth killing most everyone without all that. Once you get the hang of it, you can do it in about a minute and a half per run, and about a minute or so if you decide to leave out one guy (which I’ll talk about).
From the stairway idol, turn to the left and grapple on top of the watchtower. Deathblow the soldier on top, drop down into the tall grass behind to deathblow the guy underneath, and start making your way up towards Ashina Castle, taking out the gunner, samurai, and flame thrower guy.
From the top of the stairs, head left up the hill, turn around and take out the guy walking towards the building. You can choose to ignore the alarm guy on the roof if you want, or take him out and head for the caped samurai who’s in the grass on the other side of the roof, who you’ll need to hit with Golden Vortex to kill. This will add about 20-30 seconds or so to the run, but the caped samurai give you about 1,300 exp, as opposed to the 600 or so from the gunners and regular samurai.
From there, wether you choose to take out the first caped samurai or not, head back to the hill on the left and you’ll see another caped samurai pressed up against the wall, take him out and head towards the bridge. There will be two gunners and two samurai who are fighting with the Ashina soldiers on the bridge. Because they’re going to be preoccupied fighting each other, you can sneak up and deathblow/Divine Abduction all of them. Then just finish off the remaining Ashina soldiers and Homeward Idol back to the start.
If you end up agro-ing someone during the run, you can usually just spam R1 until you break their posture. The only two you can’t do that to are the caped samurai, which is why you should have some form of Divine Abduction ready. And if you are going for farming a lot of sen/items with Golden Vortex, you’ll end up making more than enough money to keep stocked up on spirit emblems.
I believe this run gives you roughly the same proportion of exp as farming the one armed shinobi in Ashina Castle-Antechamber, but I find it much less dull. I hope this helps at least a few people out who were looking for a good farming run! And if you know of anything better, please feel free to share!
