It's incredible how many Action RPGs implemented a parry system after Sekiro came out but almost nobody gets it right
I said "almost nobody" just because I might not be aware of somebody who got it right cause I haven't played everything out there, but no game I've played seems to understand why the parry worked so well in Sekiro: it's because you set the pace of the fight by being aggressive, the enemy deflects your attacks and then retaliates, and at this point you have to time your parry right, but you already got the rhythm from your first attacks and that's why it feels like a dance and it's so satisfying to play.
All other games I tried just have dark souls mechanics with parries added in, this results in you having to wait around for the enemy animation to start, too scared to commit to an attack because the enemy might start one of his own and trade hits (which is never favorable).
They can still be fun and you can get into a nice flow once you dodge the first attacks and start alternating attacks and parries, but it's just not the same for me, there's always that "I wish I was playing sekiro" feeling underneath
Edit: just for clarification, with parry I mean the instant block/deflect mechanic, not the dark souls style of parry
