Sargasso missing spybot (after obtaining)

Obtained the spybot after collecting all zurpstones.

After loading up the game again, it's not in my inventory anymore, may says I have 0/1 spybots. It's also not on the map, and the guy who gives you the spybot doesn't have it - if you go up to him he just says thanks for helping etc.. It still says I have 60/60 zurpstones.

Do I need to start the game fresh to try get 100? :(
