4.5 year old takes hours to fall asleep
Wondering if anyone has had success with a child that takes forever to go to sleep. We have the same daily routine-dinner at 5, books at 6, in bed by 7-715. After putting my daughter to bed, she spends the next 2-3 hours awake-pulling clothes out of her closet, climbing on everything, making forts, etc. She tells me she just doesn't know how to fall asleep. She has a yoto that she loves to listen to during this time. She used to say she was lonely, but now her younger sibling falls asleep in her room with her (usually 20 min after being put to bed). She's like the energizer bunny at bedtime. No naps and wakes up at 630-7, no matter what time she falls asleep.
I have an order in to test her ferritin levels and a sleep consult later this month. I've tried telling stories, wrestling around to get energy out, magnesium lotion, making sure we spend a lot of quality time together, ask her what she needs...but she says she just doesn't know how to make her body sleep.
