Fugitive Harry Roque is against the ANTI TROLL BILL
ROQUE OPPOSES ANTI-TROLL FARM BILL
Former presidential spokesperson and now "fugitive" Harry Roque criticized House Bill No. 11178, also known as the proposed Anti-Troll Farm and Election Disinformation Act, calling it a "brazen and dangerous attempt to control the political narrative, harass the opposition and silence dissenting voices ahead of the 2025 elections."
In a statement on Tuesday, December 10, Roque claimed he has been a target of "malicious and below-the-belt bashing" from troll farms associated with various political factions, including the "dilawans, the loyalists and the communists." Despite these attacks, he reaffirmed his commitment to defending freedom of expression.
"In a democracy, no individual or institution can monopolize the truth, ideas or concepts," Roque said. "I am a firm believer in the free market place of ideas, including the posts we read online."
He further argued that any content-based restriction, as outlined in the bill filed by House Deputy Majority Leader and PBA Party-list Rep. Margarita "Atty. Migs" Nograles-Almario and Davao Oriental 2nd District Rep. Cheeno Almario, is "heavily presumed to be unconstitutional" under existing legal standards.
