1200 NIH employees now your competition.

As someone in industry I can say that the reality right now is the job market was already bad but is even worse after this weekend for new or soon to be grads. For those who have yet to start you should think hard about joining the field. For those too deep to leave start game planning because it’s going to be extremely cut throat with 1200 laid offed NIH employees applying to the same jobs as you. You should raise these concerns with your PI and grad division, the university should have a game plan for the employability of their students.

It’s worse there’s also 1300 CDC employees fired this weekend too.
