Chronic tailbone pain (coccydynia)
I’ve had chronic coccyx pain for about 5 years. I’ve tried everything except pelvic floor therapy. I am going to make an appointment. I think the earliest they can see me is March, but what’s a few more months at this point. The only thing that has ever helped me is lidocaine/steroid injection in the joint. They essentially flood the area with it and it usually alleviates my pain almost completely for about a year. I just got another injection a few weeks ago and I don’t think he put it in the exact right spot because I’m usually feeling much better by now. My doctor won’t keep giving me injections every year anyway, so I need to find the root of it. I’ve gotten MRI’s, CT scans, X-rays- all show nothing out of the ordinary. I’ve tried physiotherapy, acupuncture, dry needling, PT exercises, not sitting as much, chiropractor, etc. I never feel any reduction in pain, even after being off of it all day, when I get up from sitting it’s a sharp stabbing pain, but then if I’m walking I’m fine. Has anyone had a similar issue that was solved with pelvic floor therapy? I’m so desperate! The pain is on my actual tailbone and hurts the worst when getting up from a seated position. The coccyx cushions do nothing for the pain.
