Infant/toddler screaming
I have an almost 13 month old. She screams all day every day, and has since she was a brand new baby. It’s not like a crying scream, it’s like an “I’m frustrated” outburst scream. The girl is never happy.
I’m home with her 12 hours + a day by myself Monday-Friday and I am at my wits end. She does it in the car, at the store, at home, while she’s eating, while we’re outside, when she was bottle feeding (which she’s done now) while we’re playing. I’ve tried ignoring it, responding to it, talking to her, saying no, telling her to use her inside voice, sshhing. You name it, we’ve tried it. The only thing that usually works is singing to her.
I just am so exhausted. I’m overstimulated, frustrated, and feeling completely hopeless. Did anyone’s child do this? Is there anyone that understands out there? Does it get better?
*I should add, by her temperament, she is the most stubborn and particular infant I’ve ever met and I’ve worked closely with small children for a long time. She has an opinion about EVERYTHING (tummy sleeper, needs a mirror in the car, only sleeps in her crib, picky eater, doesn’t put things in her mouth that isn’t food, I could go on and on and on).
