Why does he freak out before naps?
I’m a FTM to a 14 week old boy. Recently, like the last week or so, he has gotten to be a complete nightmare to get down for naps. I just purchased huckleberry but we have been getting up between 7:30/8am and doing 1.5h wake windows with naps inbetween and the last wake window is 2 hours and huckleberry is pretty similar in the recommendations.
Naps had been okay - not super long or anything but I would be able to get him down in 10ish minutes of rocking or walking around the room. Our routine is come into the bedroom, hug/kiss, swaddle, close curtains, turn on white noise, and walk around the room patting his back until he falls asleep.
For the last week, it’s like as soon as I walk into the room and say it’s naptime, he has a full meltdown. He screams and wails so loud and is inconsolable. Won’t take a pacifier, no amount of rocking or bouncing helps. My mom has been helping and eventually idk if he tires out or what but she somehow gets him to sleep but with me it’s unrelenting. Is this the sleep regression?? What the fuck can I do? Has anyone else experienced this? Once he’s asleep, we transfer him to crib/bed and he’s fine but getting there is fucking horrendous.
I think now it’s affecting night sleep as well. We were getting a good 4-5 hour stretch post dream feed but now we’re lucky if we get 3 hours.
Any advice/words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
