Would you consider pre-stunned meat hallal

Hello, everyone!

So in the EU animals have to be stunned before slaughter. This is just for ethical/veterinary reasons and often CO2 is used, which basically means the animal is "sleeping" when slaughtered. From my understanding meat is halal if it's (main two points) 1) from a permissable animal and 2) slaughtered by bleeding out while able to hear the ritualistic prayer. EU makes exceptions for religious reasons from the stunned rule, namely for production of halal and kosher meat.

Apparently, there are disagreements among Islamic scholars about whether or not the stunned animal is able to hear the prayer when its heart is still beating. I personally think that stunned = alive and the point of the prayer probably isn't for the animal to UNDERSTAND it (because it's an animal), it just has to HEAR it and it hears the prayer even when unconscious... what do you think?

(Full disclosure, I'm not Muslim myself (I read the rules and it should be okay??). I'm just daydreaming about having a goat farm one day and this is just a thought exercise, nothing more)

Edit: I misspelt halal...
