Analog IO Pro from MiSTerAddons vs. IO v9.2 + AV Mezzanine v1.2 from LegacyPixels?

I want to get quality 24-bit video out of my MiSTer, but all of this stuff is so new that there isn’t a lot of information about this online yet, and I have a couple unanswered questions. Both about 24-bit video in general and about the boards specifically.

I really want to get the IO v9.2 + AV Mezzanine v1.2 from LegacyPixels (https://www.legacypixels.com/mister/index.html) rather than the one from MiSTerAddons. I currently have the older passively cooled aluminum case from MiSTerAddons, and I use it with a passive VGA to S-Video adapter (using the composite core changes merged by MikeS). As cool as the Saturn AV port is, getting the Analog IO Pro ends up being way more expensive because not only does the board cost a bit more, but I also need a new S-Video cable, and a new aluminum backplate which is currently out of stock in all colors. The AV Mezzanine, based on a Reddit post and my own measurements, does fit in previous cases which used VGA, meaning in theory I can use my existing setup and adapters.

But, I haven’t seen anything about .ini configurations for the AV Mezzanine. Does it need a different configuration than the default for 18-bit color? If so, is the configuration the same or different than what MiSTerAddons suggests? If not, why does the MiSTerAddons board need a new configuration but this one doesn’t? If I were to keep using the passive VGA to S-Video adapter I have, would that still work with the AV Mezzanine? If so, does the configuration stay the same in that case too?

I also have questions about compatibility. The MiSTerAddons board has switches to enable or disable 24-bit video… why would you ever want to disable it? Do not all cores work with 24-bit video enabled? If so, which ones would I need to disable it for? Since the AV Mezzanine doesn’t appear to have these switches, would I be stuck with only cores that support 24-bit?

Help is very much appreciated, as it will probably determine which one of these, if any, I will buy
