Considering an SE. Concerned about open recall.
Hello all and thanks in advance for taking time to reply.
I'm currently in the market for a new (used, new to us) vehicle. I've been watching the electric market for years and feel I may finally be ready to invest in electric. In my area there seems to be a flood of Tesla offerings driving down the Model 3 price making the Tesla's very competitive with other electric offerings. I've already researched the advantages/disadvantages regarding range, parts availability, cult status, etc., between the Mini and the competitors. I honestly would prefer to purchase something like the Mini as I have always preferred the styling. Anyway, there is a Mini SE in my area I'm interested in. However it has an open recall for #24V-612:476 HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY SOFTWARE. I see there is a software "fix" available.
I guess my big question really boils down to, is this recall a big concern from a safety and longevity standpoint. Is this software fix simply a Band-Aid to get these vehicles past the warranty period so a new battery becomes the owners problem. Also, from a owners perspective, is this a car worth having. It would be a commuter vehicle 35 mile one way with a level 2 charger at both ends.
Thanks for any replies in advance.
