I need an Italian friend in my group

Ciao everyone!

So let me make some context out of the title. I am Spanish and I'm feeling your pain when someone talks and/or mistake pasta. I have a group of friends from Austria and Germany that I met throw online videogames. Now it's the birthday of one of them and I came to Vienna to celebrate. They are trying to convince me that the attached picture are noodles. I am feeling your pain. Please, I need help to explain them that they are wrong, that is called pasta but not noodles because that's a different shape. It seems they (Germans and Austrians call all the pasta noodles, one of them even dared to say pasta is bread and for that reason a hamburger is lasagna. Another one said their parents eat spaghetti cutting them with a knife)
