Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos (a trip breakdown)

We are at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, sadly getting ready to head home 🥹 What a fantastic stay!

Here's a breakdown for our trip

Transportation to/from airport covered by our Amex Gold cards $10 monthly Uber credits. We live 3 miles from the airport so it’s cheaper to Uber than park at the airport.

Roundtrip airport from SJD to Waldorf booked via Viator with Cabo Airport Shuttle

Flights:
AA round trip for 2 from MEM to SJD and back, using 16k each AA miles.

Accommodation:
- 3-night stay at Waldorf Astoria (cash price at the time of booking was $2,600 per night) - 2 Hilton free night certificates (Amex Surpass Hilton card sign-up bonus + $15k spend award) - 1 night for 120k HH points

Arrival:
We arrived around 2:30 PM on Monday. They upgraded our room at check in, but it wasn't ready yet, so they comped our late lunch/early dinner at the Beach Club ($153).

Dining:
- Breakfast: Continental breakfast free for Diamond members, upgraded to full buffet for $20/person. 10/10 (Fantastic food) - Lunches: Enjoyed a couple of on-site lunches via room service. 7/10 (good but not extraordinary, decently priced) - Skipped dinners at the main restaurants due to high prices ($300-500 for two) and ate at some local restaurants.

Service on property 100000/10 - The staff is phenomenal. You will want for nothing.

Extras:
Complimentary bottle of tequila, daily chips, pico, guacamole, and two Coronas. Free water while relaxing poolside and occasional treats. Plus, a Waldorf-branded burlap beach bag to take home.

All on site expenses were covered by our $200 Amex Hilton Aspire card resort credit and a $50 on $200 spend Amex offer on that card, and some Hilton gift cards bought with the quarterly $50 Surpass credit

Whale Watching:
Went on a fantastic whale watching expedition on Wednesday! Saw numerous grey whales and humpbacks. Also had regular sightings of whales and sea lions from our balcony.

I booked airport transfer and whale watching through Viator via Capital One Shopping portal, paid using PayPal since they had a stackable offers for Viator. And of course my out of pocket was covered by #bankbonus

Earnings:
- Capital One Shopping: $48 and $70 - PayPal: $15 and $11 - Viator rewards: $21.90 (not sure if I’ll use before it expires in August)

Any other travel expenses occured on the trip home will be put on the Capital One Venture X and covered with the “cover travel purchase” with points feature.

We hit the Capital One lounge in DFW during our two hour layover and it was great. Good food and drinks.

We are already planning our next stay at this incredible property.
