How often do you change your phone? (Financial discussion)
If I calculate the cost of my phone per year, it costs approximately £80 extra per year if I change after the 2 year mark, rather than the 3 year mark.
I can’t say I’m overly enamoured with the innovation in that time but this feels like a very reasonable cost to have the latest and greatest device with warranty. Especially considering that it’s probably the device I use the most out of everything I own.
But despite this, my head keeps telling me to keep my phone until it dies.
What are your thoughts?
EDIT - Adding example calcs:
Two year example: Phone price when new: £1199 Phone cost at trade in after two years: £420 Difference / number of years (2): £389.50 per year
Three year example: Phone price when new: £1199 Phone cost at trade in after three years: £350 Difference / number of years (3): £283 per year
Four year example: Phone price when new: £1199 Phone cost at trade in after four years: 290 Difference / number of years (4): £227.25 per year
