Black moor sensitive to light?

Finally got my little black moor in his 36gallon tank! He’s so happy swimming all over, but I’ve noticed when I turn the light on, he will spaz out and literally go hide in the corner 🥲 I know they have funky eyes, are they sensitive to light? Or does it just scare them initially? I don’t want to be causing any extra stress!
