How I would Remake God of War: Betrayal

When it comes to the God of War series, the game that a lot of people ignore when counting the games or discussing the series has to be God of War: Betrayal. To a lot of fans (myself included) the game is, not the worst, but the least favorite God of War game.

And there are reasons for this:

1: It's a mobile game with limitations. It uses about two sound effects, one music (that is the title screen), very limited move-set (you Keep pressing the same button and Kratos does full combo, no rolling, Kratos uses only two weapons, etc...), Nokia ohones screen ratio, etc...

2: The game is only available on outdated phones that uses Javascript. Meaning that the game never received any rereleases even to this day.

3: The game isn't huge or "epic" like the rest of the series.

However, to me this game is my guilty pleasure. Yes, it's far from being perfect, but for a mobile game, it's pretty good!

Now, how would I remake this game? You see, I'm a sucker for pixel-art, side-scrolling games. I grew up playing SEGA Genesis and SNES games, and I am currently playing Indie games.

If I remake this game, I would give it a modern Indie game look using one of my favorite games from the past 7 years. And that game is Sonic Mania.

Sonic Mania reuses and remakes levels from old Sonic games on SEGA Genesis. The levels are bigger and wider, and the pixel-art graphics is pretty as hell.

Sonic's sprite in Mania is much more detailed then what he used to look like in Sonic 1. There are more frames to his animations, thus making it much more smoother.

You get the point, right?

Other then that, I would also add more sfx (obviously) and also soundtrack. The soundtrack would be either new tracks or remix of the Greek games ost but in 16-bit sound.

Expand the levels, add more moves, buttons, weapons, make the game fit into a 16:9 screen ratio, etc...

I would also give the game a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night feel and vibe to it.

Kratos would wear his God of War Armor from God of War 2. Although not confirmed, it is agreed that the game takes place after Ghost of Sparta and before God of War 2. And at the end of Ghost of Sparta, Kratos wears his GoW armor. Him not wearing the armor and his blades look nothing like the Blades of Athena feels out of place (and because the armor looks so cool).

Kratos' blades, Blades of Athena, would actually look like how they were depicted in GoW1, Ghost of Sparta and GoW2

Maybe add more cutscenes and bonus features here and there like battle arena, costumes, treasure, and....

What else? Well, not that much. I just had this cool vision in my brain. I said what I wanted to say and share my thoughts with you guys. Hope you like it!!

Tell me If you have any cool ideas you have!!
