Still no worthy replacement this year, I've given up on Samsung
Like many of us due to battery aging and the phone no longer being supported by a number of apps and no longer getting viral updates etc I've been watching phones launch for years hoping to find something that was at least just a bit worse than the S9, but no luck.
I see so many say blah blah you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p on phones - I easily can.
People saying it's not needed on "small phones" - the S9 was the flagship, not everyone wants or can use a huge heavy phone, and many want/need it.
If they could just give us a way to whack in a new battery and processor for the OS and such we still have better phones than most phones yet to even launch when it comes to the most vital things.
To get a 1440p screen we have to go bigger and heavier, loose expandable storage, headphone jacks. Hell the S9 wasn't even the first to have 1440p.
As a woman with hands on smaller size of average and use it a lot it literally hurts to try to use big phones, they need to be two hands and I like being able to hold it in one hand without issue. For more intense video watching I'll use a tablet or something. The last 'modern phone' I tried had reviews from tall guys saying it the phones hurt their hands too - why bother? The weight gates people out so it's not even a choice.
Not to mention out OLEDs still score better than most modern phones.
I can't believe they haven't let things we had for years trickle down the stack after waiting years. I have no idea what to buy, but this thing needs replacing as much as I don't want to. Greedy Samsung making fun of apple for doing exactly what they went and did in the end but to apple's credit, and they don't get much from me, they didn't make their phones massively worse over a few generations.
As much as I won't buy an iPhone, at least if I bought the new one I could sell it for a decent amount of what I paid down the line and it will last a long time, Samsung phones don't hold their value nearly as well as they still charge so much you'd think we are getting the 'apple tax'.
Also if you want more storage you have to nearly blind buy before reviews or you'll be paying for the storage over a free upgrade.
