Discussion of Free!: The Final Stroke - Part 2

I am pretty happy with the ending, and how they solved the final relay. I think they knew fans wanted to see everyone swim, and that’s what they did.

The whole story with that German(?) swimmer seems rushed and unnecessary, though. Haru and him have shared the screen about five times and suddenly he is changing his whole life following Haru’s steps.

The only thing I would have changed is give some closure to Makoto’s insecurities and/or relationship with Haru. It seems that thread was recalled but never evolved into anything.

The huge amount of straight out fan service at the end somehow seem fitting too.

I suppose they really knew their target audience this time.
