Dyche’s sacking was very badly handled
Like most people I thought Dyche had run out of time. I actually don’t think we would have been relegated, but at the same time it didn’t feel like we were going anywhere. Season after season of just barely surviving and watching terrible football has taken its toll upon us all, and I think we do need someone new. Moyes seems to be the front runner and his work with West Ham gives me hope that he could do something good back on Merseyside.
However, sacking Dyche mere hours before an important FA Cup match was not decent, nor fair on him, the players or Leighton and Seamus. Similarly, the club’s statement on his sacking was woefully inadequate. Regardless of our recent form, Everton would not be a premier league club without Dyche. Never mind keeping us up comfortably with an 8 point deduction last season, we’d never have even made it to that season without him. He was owed, at the very least, a public word of thanks for the work he has done. I hope this isn’t an indication of how the new owners intend to do business going forward as it doesn’t seem like the Everton way to me.
