Does double majoring in Electrical Engineering/Physics open doors to Nanotechnology?

I have a degree in Microbiology/pre-med. Working in the hospital has given me a different perspective of life. I see that without the technology we have today made by many different types of engineers, mathematicians, and physicists. We would not be able to save lives or live as long as we are today.

My doctor and I were talking about how he loves medicine and his first bachelors was in Electrical Engineering. He wanted to work on lasers but he found passion in saving and helping people individually, each and everyday. Unfortunately for me I no longer have the drive for it and found passion in learning electronics, math, programming, the laws of physics, and much more. He encourages me to go back to school and relearn what I don’t know. He also gave me books to read one was from Richard Feynman, and Arts of Electronics. I never liked these stuff before but after reading the materials I realize there is so much I don’t know and want to know. I stumbled upon nanotechnology and I believe this could open up a new era in life.

Regardless, if I don’t get into studying nanotechnology at least I have found what I want to study and do the rest of my life.

That being said will double majoring in EE/Physics open many doors of getting a chance to work with cutting edge technology?
