I tried the "better" BioWare games bc of Veilguard

Because of the poor reviews for Veilguard I started playing Mass Effect. My logic was "if I already love this bad game, their better rated games must be amazing" and honestly I am even more mad about the poor reviews now. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but the writing in ME dialogues is equally awkward, repetitive and off at times. On top of that there are so many gameplay aspect that are worse: Environment interactions, maps, UI in general, companion management. And of course that makes sense for an old game. And I get that people are looking for the same nostalgic feeling in Biowares new games but bro, you are not even the same person you were when you played ME. This is not to bash ME (I enjoy it) but to say I'm a bit sad DAV didn't get credit for the things it did so well but got a lot of criticism for things that were apparently the same before.
