Genuine question how does this team get by on hardened battles and other hard events?

I run this team for obvious reasons but they always seem to die (mainly due to slot 1) i always find myself in a rotation and turn where no one here can survive a slot 1 besides gotenks and even with him is a bit of a coin flip, obviously turn 1 monkey boys but thats only for one turn, and gt goku but hes a dodge or die, do i just have to get lucky and pray or am i missing something?
