GIA, CEO to Retire

In other news, GIA CEO Susan Jacques has announced (internally) that she will be retiring.

I have a neutral view on Jacques as I do believe she made poor decisions while leading GIA in the last few years. Granted GIA has been and still is struggling due to after affects of COVID and the major consumer shift to lab grown diamonds.

In my opinion the biggest mismanagement was continuing to open the Dubai lab while having a forced lay off and then a year later a “voluntary” layoff. It will be interesting to see if the next CEO can save GIA’s main source of incoming (diamonds) and afford to save itself as a whole.
