Losing interest in campaign
Howdy friends I run a 5e campaign with my partner and 3 friends. We had started with a person who ended up getting kicked out, even though he was one of the players boyfriends. Things were okay at the start but there were mundane issues such as not letting me know when he didn't like something (a memory of his mother being executed, she was absent after childhood I wrote in reasoning). I didn't find out until roughly 10 sessions later. He wouldn't reply to my messages until over a month later. Just little shit. We talked about it and I told him he'd be sitting out for a session or 2 and his character would resolve a quest over text during that waiting period. Again, no response for over a month. I told him I'm no longer looking for his response, and wrote his character's conclusion, so I could mentally close that PC arc.
We find later that he and his boyfriend break up due to very messy circumstances on his side, showing that he had been problematic the whole time.
The issue I'm drawing lately is that when I sit down to write for my game, I don't have any interest. We've done most of a suffering game arc with someone taking his place and the group synergy is better than before, but the world is sorta soured for me. Just trying to rewrite objectives no longer associated with him or his character's family, the town I asked him to develop. I don't know if I just want to wipe the slate clean, or if it'll just pass with time and getting further from the events.
I think after this arc, I'll go on a "permanent hiatus".
Does anyone else have something familiar or advice?
