What should I give to my player who's character is blind son they can help in combat more

One of my players in my first ever campaign I'm running as a dm (I've only been dming for 2 months and playing for 11 months) made a satyr dreams druid character that was cursed by a hag to become forever asleep, meaning his eyes never open. Mechanically, he still needs to take rests as he needs rem sleep and communicates through telepathy. But in both roleplay and combat it's been hard to explain how he can see, we kinda defaulted that he can sense sentient creatures to a certain range, but idk what the hard limit should be.
