Can you create a perpetual forward train?

Me and a friend have been playing the same minecraft create world for 2 years, and one of our final projects is for our base to be on a train that moves constantly

But we never tested if it is possible, we have some addoms that are supposed to make it more feasible, but do you know if this is merely possible? And if not, why?
