Traveling soon... should I change my plans? Advice needed
Hey everyone, hoping to get some advice on my plans for traveling to Costa Rica soon. My trip is January 18 to 24, flying in/out of San Jose.
I had been planning to spend my time in Cocles. I have an Airbnb that can be cancelled for a 50% refund before this Friday 1/10. I am willing to eat the money if it leads to having a better trip.
The reason why I am thinking about changing my plans is the weather forecast.... and I already know I shouldn't trust this 100%. That being said, the weather in Cocles/Puerto Viejo for the past month has been heavy rain and storms. It seems to be getting lighter, but still most of next week looks to be raining most of the time. I don't trust any weather reports beyond 5 or 6 days, so I don't have a sense of what the weather will be for my actual travel week--but I need to make the decision about my Airbnb situation before Friday.
I am considering changing my plans to the Pacific side, where there seems to be many more days with sun forecasted compared to Cocles. My initial thoughts for a Plan B would be to do a Manuel Antonio/Drake Bay combination, maybe spending 3ish days in both areas.
I know the rainforest is gonna rainforest, and I don't mind having a few rainy days/moments. However I really am hoping to see wildlife and enjoy a some beach time, and it would kinda suck to spend 3+ days mostly inside due to weather.
What would you do if you were in my (breathable and waterproof) shoes? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
