Made a stupid yet dangerous mistake today.
Today I was in a rush to go somewhere and had taken my father's car. As I was late, I didn't properly adjust the seat to my comfort and just went with it. During the drive I was feeling a little bit off so tried to adjust my seat while moving.
Our car has the old school sliding rail adjustment where we pull a lever and move the seat back and forth using our body weight. I made sure the road was straight and reduced my speed to 40km/hr and tried to adjust. As I was adjusting a scooter in front of me braked slightly. So as a precaution i also put my break on the foot (I wasn't panicking, just pressed my foot slightly). But my stupid ass didn't realise inertia exists and my seat slid completely forward resulting in me putting my entire body weight on the brake pedal. The car came to a abrupt stop and stalled in the middle of the road. I was lucky there weren't any vehicles behind me because they would've definitely rear ended me. And afterwards, in a panicked state i tried to park my car on the side without restarting my engine (it was a slight downhill). And alas, the steering got locked😭😭. But I escaped from damaging the car this time too.
It was a complete ingnorance from my end. Such a simple thing such as moving our seat while driving can cause much bigger consequences. I should've adjusted seats, mirrors etc before I started driving. I was fortunate that someone didn't rear end me.
I'm putting this here so that someone might learn from my mistakes. Adjust everything beforehand you start driving folks. Even if it takes some time. It can prevent massive headaches in future.
