Reminder to all that are selling cars, anyone asking you to provide a report that is NOT a PPSR is attempting to SCAM you

Hi all, been seeing a few posts about this in here every now and again and thought it'd be good to shed some light on this. For all of you who are currently trying to sell cars, you may have faced the experience of someone attempting to get you some kind of report on your car because they either "do not trust the PPSR" or "the PPSR is inaccurate".

The PPSR is a government provided report that you can generate yourself for a $2 fee on the official website, all the information is 100% accurate provided that you have gone through insurance to write your vehicle off, reported it as stolen or owe money on the vehicle.

Do not fall for a scam in which anyone asks you to provide a report through a website they provide to you, if they link you a site, do not even bother opening it, save yourself the time, report the account and block them.

These scammers are attempting to not only charge you an exorbitant fee, you will not get a report out of it and by then you would have willingly given your credit/debit card information to whoever is on the other end of the scam. If they do not accept the PPSR due to not trusting it or saying it is inaccurate, remove them and keep waiting for a buyer as I can assure you they will suddenly come up with a magic website that shows "everything in the report".

Provided are 2 images that clearly outline the scam, the first image shows how they will attempt to rope in any unsuspecting sellers and the second image shows the result of clicking on the provided link, in which case, the site was unable to open due to being massively insecure and reported as unsafe.

I hope this helps everyone, good luck selling your cars.

Here the scammer attempts to trick the seller (me) into using the card detail phishing site.

This is the result of opening the site provided by the scammer.
