Which therapy works best for trauma?
Hello,
As the title suggests I’m looking to hear what type of therapy you think helps best with trauma? Especially childhood trauma?
I’ve heard mixed opinions, I’ve had a therapist suggest I do schema therapy, EMDR or Psychoanalysis. There seems to be a lot of trauma to uncover and heal but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a suitable therapist who uses any of these modalities.
I have met a few therapists but mainly CBT and DBT focused and there were talks on potentially Borderline personality traits or CPTSD. Also suffering an eating disorder.
Any advice on how to proceed forward?
It’s a bit tricky with trauma because on one hand you want to heal it but on the other you also want to become a more functioning individual.
