Should I start using a CPAP machine?
Sell me on this. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea earlier in the year and never followed up on the machine. I figured it was due to my enlarged tonsils, which somehow got large relatively quickly. I'm tired of being tired and insomt knowing it's be cause I need an extra hour of sleep, or if it's because I'm starving myself of oxygen, but I need to try something.
Another reason is because I started snoring a lot and loudly when I used to not. Again, I blame the tonsils because there were times where I could feel the throat constriction but nothing could be done about it. And my sleep was definitely gotten worse over the years.
I was never fully convinced on a CPAP due to several questions. Will it require me to sleep face up? That's not my preferred position. Will I need to sleep with my mouth open the entire time? Does the machine need to be powered and connected to an outlet? I share a bed, and wouldn't want to be much of a bother. I had heard of simpler solutions like something you put in your mouth to keep the airways open that seemed like a more convincing solution to me, but I wonder if it's worth it.
Help me be more informed so I can make a decision that I won't regret. What should I do?
