In their Dream Pop pocket?

Kind of a two-parter but they are interwoven.

I've often wondered how Beach House has distinguished itself as a band that has thematically and sonically pushed boundaries in a certain style. I'm not saying that, album to album (even song to song, on the same project), Beach House doesn't vary, but I think it's fair to say they do a thing very well. Any thoughts on how they avoid the trap of musical redundancy?

That said, I remember reading an interview, but now can't find it, with Victoria where she eschewed the dreamy label and said they're just kind of a loud rock band. The "rock" characterization really took me once I saw them live. Their sound was so huge and loud it was hard to classify it as anything different than that.

I wonder if they avoided the aforementioned trap by being really studied in a broader genre as opposed to, say, trying to dominate a niche like shoegaze.
