Health Insurance Companies are a nightmare for 1st prenatal visit.

Found a doctor that my insurance online says I am in network with. Really nice person and am very happy with.

I make the appointment for the 1st pre natal. Doctors office says I am covered and all is well.

I get a notification 3 weeks later that my entire claim was denied by my insurance company.

" The doctor is not in network, and I was not enrolled in health insurance when I went "

Received a bill of around 2000 dollars that I will need to pay for the doctor. ( I have called and explained what is going on )

Called insurance company and they said I was enrolled during the time of service and that was a mistake, BUT that the doctor was NOT in network for my plan.

Called the doctor and was told 100 percent they are in network and my plan is included.

Called back insurance company, they REFUSE to allow me to speak to a supervisor.

They then confirm that the doctor is INDEED in network with my plan and I INDEED had coverage, and they file a claim on my behalf.

Now I have to see what happens next. This is really depressing because I don't want to fight every month now I submit a claim. I have the genetic testing next month now for the baby, that can be extremely expensive if no insurance so of course I am worried this will happen again ( downs testing etc )

I will be around 13-14 weeks next appointment

Why are insurance companies like this? Their own website when I am logged in says I am in network for this doctor and my plan is covered. Yet you tell me I am not, then change your mind and say I am

I am not looking for it to be free, but I was literally charged as out of network with zero discount.

Is this is insurance issue, or the doctor office issue? I am now worried if I continue going, that this will happen each month. Doctors office said I need to speak to my insurance and someone who is a supervisor

The issue by itself almost isn't the money. If I made a mistake and I have to pay and go somewhere else, fine. I will live and learn from that. But I am right about what I have said.

Also, the fact that I don't find out an answer for 30 days is stressful, cause it leaves me no time to find a new doctor if they somehow deny me again, and when the next appointment is the genetic testing stuff, and its expensive to begin with

Thanks, was just venting and feel hopeless when it comes to talking to someone who actually is higher up.

Have a great day
