Compromising - does it end ?

Does anyone feel like they have had to compromise on almost everything to find a male partner? I have spent so much effort on my appearance and career which it seems like men expect from women but in return I feel like I’ve settled for partners who are a “good guy,” with not much else. After several serious relationships I am trying to understand if this is just the way it is.
