Is 28 too late to retrain as a lawyer?
I'm 28 and working in the health and safety field. I always wanted to be a lawyer when I was in school, but despite being an academic person, I've always struggled to focus and revise. I got A's and B's in school with doing next to no revision, but I know to do Law, it's not the kind of thing you can just coast through, so I decided to go a different path.
Now I quite enjoy health and safety, and I've been thinking lately about going into health and safety law, but to do a law degree it takes a long time and it's very expensive. Have I left it too late to make a decent career/wage out of doing law? The OU degree would take 6 years, by that time I'll be 34, and then I'll be starting out at the lowest level of my career again. I just don't know if it'll be worth it, or if I'll even be able to apply myself enough to complete the course. My inability to revise and study has not improved as I've aged.
