Is it logical to layoff hundreds of FAA employees after the first fatal commercial plane crash in decades?

I just don’t know if this is the best move to make right now. There’s already problems with understaffing and this certainly doesn’t help anything.

I just don’t understand the ruthless firing with little to no time spent when decision making.
