Should Canada threaten increased trade with China?

It seems that Canada’s primary leverage, along with other western countries, is the ability to threaten increased trade with china (remove tariffs on china) should the united states continue it’s abusive and imperialistic behaviour. And besides, there’s nothing that china could really do to threaten western countries that’s worse than using military force to annex land. Its the single worst possible outcome for a sovereign country like denmark. And its not like china is saying that they want to hurt Canadians, even at a cost to their own citizens, in an effort to take over the country.

Unlike retaliatory tariffs, using china as leverage does not harm Canadian affordability. If anything it helps it. And I don’t know about you guys, but i would rather a super cheap EV from china (tariff free) than an expensive EV from musks scummy ass, who’s doing as much or more to threaten democracy.

(Edit)

People are saying we should pivot towards Europe rather than China. I agree, let’s go all in on Europe, but that leverage is not nearly as strong as threatening to stregnthen America’s enemy. And europe’s economy is a mess anyway. I think we should enter talks with china as a political display. Let the US know that we have the option (and will) to strengthen their enemy if they want to be our enemy. That might make them think twice about the importance of having us, and countries like us, in their orbit.

People are also saying that we can simply wait out Trump. But the US has a deeply uneducated voter base. They could have Trumps son as a future president for all we know — the guy putting Canada in his virtual shopping cart. I’m therefore concerned about entering any new deal with the US. Their signature might as well be in crayon, because it doesn’t mean anything whatsoever.
