Boys and Girls Club
I'm very curious about her Boys & Girls Club work experience as a teenager.
She claimed she worked at one, and she would "sit and watch the younger kids." She also claimed she was paid for it (this was in very old vlogs of the past as well as her ASKFMs).
This is such a weird thing to lie about, in my opinion. So, I was a paid employee at the club when I was 20-22. I ran my own classroom in the summer and during the school years worked in our in school locations, being in charge of the STEM program. I would like to know if any of you also worked in one of these clubs... because you can correct me if yours worked differently, but here's how mine was.
We were never allowed to sit unless on break. I had to be on my feet constantly. If we were caught sitting for longer than a couple of minutes, or when not helping the kids, then we would get in trouble. We were supposed to always be walking around and have every child within sight at all times.
Part time only. We were only allowed part time. Don't get me wrong, we were able to do double shifts if someone couldn't make it in, but due to the funding of our club... only higher ups were full time positions.
We did have teen employees. I believe our youngest was 17. But they went through rigorous training and they had to have worked there shadowing older teachers for over a year prior to being able to run their own classrooms. Also, no one younger than 17 could be an actual part time employee.
We had "student teachers" which is what I believe Amber was. They were unpaid and basically worked in the same way that volunteers would. This was also a way for them to get in their "shadow work" to be able to be employee the next year. They were allowed to sit more, and more often than not were in charge of wrangling the kids and playing with the kids.
Now it's very possible that maybe Amber was in a club that had different rules for how young someone could be. But I just feel like she's lying and she was a student volunteer and just called it work to sound cool and productive to society. It's such a... stupid thing, ya know? If she had worked at our club, sitting on her ass the whole time, she would have been fired in an instant.
I know this is an old subject, and most of you won't care because of it. And I know, I know, "Amber is a lah, why are you surprised?" But it's nagging at me. Leave me be xD Humor me on this.
