Fever

So I went to the doctor for my daughter who is 14 months old. Today she said we always treat a fever with ibuprofen/Tylenol if it is over 100.4. Last time when she was sick at about 6 months old she said that we shouldn’t give medicine until 103 or she is uncomfortable and that the fever helps her fight infection. This was the same doctor. Has anyone gotten conflicting advice like this? Is it an age thing? I didn’t feel like I should call her out in the moment as I was more concerned about my daughter’s health.
