I’m an African American from Virginia. Are there any interesting insights about my results?

I did my initial results way back in 2017 (I believe), so in order to get the most recent updates, I had to upgrade my sample.

The new results show a match from the Congo, Barbados, Jamaica, and Ireland. I’m guessing I’m a descendant of some Irish indentured servants who may have been sent to Barbados or Jamaica, because they were not enslavers to my knowledge. My last name is Irish, so I guess that makes sense.

I wish I had more info about which peoples in Nigeria my ancestors originated from, but maybe they’ll update that as time goes on.

The recent Congolese ancestry is a surprise. My mom’s dad’s side of the family look more like them, but everyone is still African American.

My dad’s side does have family from North Carolina, so it’s nice to confirm that with the results.

Anything else that you might notice?
